JOB SUMMARYThis position serves as the university's chief budget officer and reports directly to the VP for Business and Finance.
MAJOR DUTIESPrepares the annual budget and all supporting documentation and reports in collaboration with the President, Vice President for Business and Finance, and the Budget Committee.
Prepares all budget amendments; assists in compiling documentation for budget hearings.
Prepares and submits Board of Regents budgetary reports.
Prepares and presents quarterly budget and investment reports.
Serves on a variety of university committees.
Researches and resolves budget software errors.
Assists with annual financial reporting including completion of the Budgetary Compliance Report.
Prepare various reports and business plans and track spending related to auxiliary business units.
Coordinate and collaborate with HR to maintain internal controls related to university position controls.
Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures.
Knowledge of State of Georgia budgetary policies.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of state and national issues related to higher education.
Knowledge of budget development and management principles.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe Vice President for Business & Finance assigns work in terms of department goals and objectives.
The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of department activities.
GUIDELINESGuidelines include the Board of Regents Business Procedures Manual, the Board of Regents Policy Manual, the Board of Regents Budget Calendar, Governmental Accounting Standards Board guidelines, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and university policies and procedures.
These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of varied management and accounting duties.
Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to direct the development and reporting of the annual university budget.
Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of university financial operations and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, policies and procedures.

More than four years of related experience requiredPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
