Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension Program (FVSU-CEP) is an educational resource dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Georgians and beyond through researched based initiatives and programs.
The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) area focuses on helping families in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and changed behavior necessary to build strong resilient families through programs.
Our content areas include human/child development, parenting health management/wellness, heirs' property, and energy efficiency.
Fort Valley State University's Cooperative Extension Program is seeking an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager for the Family and Consumer sciences area.
The Administrative Assistant/Office Manager will be a detailed oriented and organized individual who will provide direct professional, administrative and budget support for the Family and Consumer Sciences area.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Knowledge and ability to perform modern administrative office management procedures and systems inclusive but not limited to emailing, scanning, etc.
Functions as a primary point of contact and liaison for clients/visitors, department and staff members.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize work and balance time demands with minimal oversight.
Compose, prepare, and modify documents such as memos and other correspondence when necessary.
Plan and attend meetings to take detailed minutes for distribution as requested.
Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements when necessary.
Process electronic requisitions/contracts.
Travel, and expense reports through PeopleSoft for FCS Cooperative Extension Program.
Assist with extension program and events coordination.
Process PAN' for hiring student workers.
May act as or support facilities coordinator (Childcare and Family Development Center) Pick up mail from campus post office as well as distribute mail to various office as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Associates Degree in a related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Three years or more of relevant experience preferably in an educational environment.
Knowledge and ability of modern administrative office management procedures and systems.
Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to plan and organize.
Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize work while paying attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Experience in using office equipment such as computer, scanner, fax machine, etc.
Ability and willingness to attend trainings and workshops to enhance job proficiency.
Should be flexible with the ability to adapt to change.
Working Conditions:
Typically, climate-controlled office environment.
Travel required-Some overnight travel for trainings/conferences.
Evening/night/weekend work occasionally Working outdoors occasionally at farmers markets, health fairs and community events.
Physical Requirements:
The employee is required to sit and utilize a computer/monitor with ease.
Required to stand or walk (i.

Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
May lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
